Too Long Shoelaces

Does anyone have a good idea of how to shorten a pair of shoelaces that are about 20 inches too long for my trainers..and no I can't return them.

Cut them and finish the cut ends with new aglets - many places to buy them.

Just a tip, when you order laces
Colour.
Type; Round or flat
+ number of lace-holes in shoe 4-6-8 etc
If you look at packaging, Number of holes always shown, determines length

Cut it to length you want and use Sellotape to make a hard end to thread through holes. Or buy some laces of required length.

You could always but a shorter pair- just a thought:-)

When I ordered them I ordered the size for the number of holes but it didn't work out. Thanks anyway to all of you.

Yes Margot I could always buy a shorter pair as you pointed out but I like finding a solution for using what I have.

Cut them and burn the ends. While still hot (not burning) roll them between your fingers.

was gonna suggest the same as ummmm...cut, burn and quickly dab ends when hot but not burning with wet fingers- this will help to seal the lace

Having cut to required length, fold end/ends to make narrow and paint
with clear nail varnish.

Ive cut ours before now and sealed the ends with clear nail varnish. It did the trick!

That's okay Margo. "Why not buy a new pair of trainers?" Well that was what I was trying to avoid and choosr the dheaper way out .......another colour so shoe laces....went from bright in your face pink to light grey....a world of difference.
