This section is a close as I can get for this question! Our dishwasher is not working and the display states, 'check water supply' The supply is good because it's off our cold water tap to the sink. However, there is a little box that stops the water flooding when the dishwasher is faulty coming off the water pipe. Could it be this box that is not allowing the water in? Can they be adjusted? How do I tell if it's faulty? Many thanks, Bramley.

yes it could be the overflow box, what to do about it depends on the make and model of your dishwasher. I suggest that you google "failing to fill" and the make and model of your dishwasher.
Those of us that prowl these sections are likely to find it, wherever it is placed.
I've seen it, read it, thought about it, but at the moment I don't know what to suggest. I might come back to it (unless someone else has covered it) when I've researched what this little box is. Don't know what it is, unless it is a one-way isolation valve to stop contaminated dishwasher water going anywhere near the clean fresh 'mains' water.
buildersmate, i think its an overflow preventer. It cuts the incoming water off if it thinks that the mechanism that should stop the water flowing in when there is enough to do the wash (and breathe) has failed to work. It stops the water continuing to flow in and flood the kitchen.

Backflow preventer - that's the word I was searching for earlier.
Overflow Preventers do exist as well, apparently.
I'd do as Methyl suggests - temporarily bypass the device to check if the fault is caused by the device or the front end lnlet valve of the dishwasher. My guess is unfortunately the latter, not much to go wrong in the former.

Thank you Buildersmate. The trouble is the little box is factory fitted to the in pipe and if I took it off I would permanently damage it and tube and not be able to refit it. Also access is a ***!!! It's one of these fitted dishwashers. So I'll call out Bosch!!! Thanks again, Bramley.
