Resealing Around Kitchen Sink

The silicone seal between the work top and tiling behind my kitchen sink has become discoloured. Is this the correct way to deal with it - scrape off the old seal with a Stanley knife, wipe down with sugar soap, then apply silicone with one of those gun thingies and smooth down?

That's what I have done in my house (and I'm not a plumber or kitchen fitter). When it comes to smoothing down the sealant, you get a good finish if you use a scraper with a rounded tip, rather than your finger. Make sure that the surfaces are quite dry before you apply the sealant, or else it won't stick.

Am I impressed, SJ…King Street, Twickenham… mines through the tack room, (don't step on one of the dogs) into the shop, (our address, by the way, is third place up Bear Creek, on the right with the Double Tree holding the mail box up. As anyone within 20 miles (which is about 3 neighbors) and they'll get you here… but it's definitely not King Street!

It`s Poundland Clanad (where I bought the silicone). Bit like your dollar shops. Incidently, I met the CEO of Poundland a while ago. He was a lovely chap and was about to float the company on the stock market in the US. I told him how I complained to his company one time about something and they sent me a £5 voucher. I felt a bit mean taking a voucher from a pound shop but he said "quite right too, if we were wrong then we should do something about it"
