Dilema

Any ABrs know where to get a replacement NiCad 18v battery for my cordless Qualcast Strimmer (which is the best one I ever used) Amazon don't have them- except for Bosch Ryobi etc., Qualcast UK not very user friendly.

May be more economic to get a new Strimmer, but better the devil you know, which is why I'd sooner get a replacement battery....

That's poor service from Qualcast, Matt. They should have them.

Failing that, I've never tried it, but I know some who have....... Take the battery pack apart. It will most likely contain standard rechargeables which you could replace.

I would agree with The Builder with regards replacing the cells within the pack. If you do go this route, take my advice and fit good quality cells, with at least the Ah capacity of those you are replacing.
Such an approach can work out significantly cheaper than buying a replacement battery pack.

Builder, I have already opened the battery pack up & considering replacement with rechargeable but it looks a little daunting as there seems to be a glued on sort of neg 'card' shaped to cover all the battery bases. Would doubt if that will re-stick if I remove any cells. They are all wrapped in thin cardboard! All very homemade looking, but I know it's probably a feasible job AND cheaper option!

SlackAlice. EBay has a refurb model (good price) but the second link is about three times the cost of a new Strimmer!

It's a bit of a long shot but you could try a phone call to the factory where Atco-Qualcast products were made, which is just down the road from me. It's now part of Bosch: 01449 742000
