still think of me. I had an unexpected package in the post this morning. It brought a few tears to my eyes. A bundle of hand painted Christmas cards sent to them by my mum in the late '80s,and a pair of very old Doulton Lambeth salt and pepper shakers that I'd always admired.
They are both 82,and moving to a retirement home...and very kindly thought of me. I've not seen them in 10 years...it's hard to imagine them slowing down,as they were the busiest people I've ever known. They restored an old property in scotland when in their late 50s,and took on a wreck of a 17th c house in their late 60s to early 70s.
Hi pasta ,
must have brought many memories back for you of them. To be able to hold something your parents lovingly made must bring you a lot of pleasure x
My ex in-laws live next door but one. She doesn't speak to me, she's not a nice person, and he's not allowed to speak to me but we do have chats when she's not about.
My ex mil alternated between lovely and royal pain in the bum. They've always sent Christmas and birthday cards. I've not always reciprocated...I feel a bit guilty about that. Though...I always felt I got lucky as far as mother in laws go.:-)
My current one is a diamond. If she ever gets arsey you know something has happened that she's not telling (she has her 4 grandkids living with her and has done for the last 15 years or so)
