Gaps Under Stepped Concrete Bases ..

We've recently had some new garden fencing/ posts & bases done ... & in parts it had to be stepped due to sloping, soil has been back filled against the gaps. In time we intend to get the uneven soil/ lawn levelled & landscaped, this will show gaps where the stepping is. What can be used to fill these gaps that will be seen above lawn level? Is there a remedy normally used for such a problem?

Usually horizontal timber boarding to match the fence. Where the timber becomes buried below ground level, it's not ideal, but, being treated timber, it will have a good useful life.

Vertical boarding would have been better for the whole fence. The top can be kept level, but the bottom edge would be sloping to follow the incline. Nothing more needed then.

Depending on the look that you want to go for (manicured flat lawn, or more free-style curves and slopes) perhaps you could install raised beds made with sleepers in front of the fence to hide the gaps? If you have the base of the raised beds level, but make them tall enough to come just above the concrete line.
Or, you could put edging bricks down to make a shorter border, dot with some architectural plants, then bark over the top to hide the gaps?

It's a lovely idea & one I had thought about .. but I'm trying to reduce maintenance out there .. so I just want a nice neat square or rectangle of lawn surrounded by prob two x wide paving stones all round & four largish square brick planters .. (a bedding wall kind of look) but square in each corner filled with some nice perrenials. Thanks for answering peas x

Just looked phormiums up peas, I like the look of them! I've only thought of hostas so far (slug resistant ones) .. not really up on what's out there perrenial wise. It will be next year now hopefully when any changes happen x
