should be obvious to anyone with O level maths but it is some time since I was at school.

Pond is built in three levels.
Top level is 2.5m diameter x 30cm deep.
Level 2 is level is 1.9m diameter x 30cm deep.
Bottom level is 1.3m diameter x 30cm deep.

What is the volume in litres?

Thanks

I'd just fill it until the water is nearly at the top edge and forget the maths :0)
Unless it's homework.
There are 1000 litres in a cubic metre. I think the pond holds 3.465 cubic metres.
3465 litres?
Ignore that^. I left the pi out of the equation

For each level convert the diameter into centimetres and half it to find the radius.

Find the volume of each level by multiplying the surface area (πr²) x 30

Add the three together. This will give you the volume in cc. To convert to litres multiply by 100.
This is assuming that the pond is circular, which it must be because of the use of the word diameter.
Assuming its circular, I make it 2722 litres

The link from divebuddy gave 2680 litres, almost the same as sddsddddean 2722. I need to know to order some equipment for the pond. Funny, I always thought it is a lot bigger.

Thanks all.
Empty the pond. Note the reading on the water meter. Fill the pond. Read the water meter again and subtract the first reading from the second. (I'm rubbish at maths, too!))
Calculated the three levels using formula width x diameter x depth. Total for all three levels 2.565 cc which 2565 litres or (564 galls approx). I believe.
The width IS the diameter, Dave, See my post above.
sorry - that should have said width x radius a depth.
No, Pi x the radius squared x depth.
machine playing up radius x depth
2,721.40223 Ltrs
3 cylinders. Vol is 3.14159 X (rXr) X h.
h being height. r being half diameter. 3.14159 being pi.
Convert meters to cm
Convert vol of 3 cylinders in cubic centimtres (cc) to litres.
1473 + 851 + 398 = 2,722 litres. (rounded to the nearest whole litre)

And that's after a large Chinese meal, three Tsing Tsao beers, half a bottle of wine and a brandy. I really must try to get out more :-)
