I'd buy 5 bottles of off license plonk :-)
chateauneuf -du-pape is a favourite of my oh
Fluffy, as a complete generalisation, I think chateauneuf du paper is overrated so personally wouldn't go for that one. I've not taste any of the three you mention but as I love all Italian reds would probably plump for that one.
Any Mendoza, Argentina Malbec.

Might be too cheap as it's usually about £8 a bottle.
A spicy fruity quaffer.

i love rioja, so i would go for one of those personally but i might go for the barolo

i need to tap up the MD yet, i might get a few more pennies out of her....
A nice Rioja. Il Faustino V11

You could buy 3 at this price and drink one yourself :-)

If you have a local Wetherspoons pub then you can sample a glass/bottle if you have never tried Faustino. It is my favourite by far.

i've had faustino before, its very nice, its a 50th bday so i'm looking about for something a special as the budget allows!
I have just opened a bottle of ERA COSTANA 2012 Rioja. 2 bottles for £12 in Sainsburys. Very nice it is to. If the wine is really good does spending £30 on a bottle improve the flavour? or are people worried that the reciprocant may think of them as a cheapskate?
I would not have believed I was offering this idea a couple of years ago! I hated Spanish wine. 'Baturrica' from Lidl is a very, very good red wine. I could pontificate about some others. You could buy several bottles of Baturrica for £25!

You cannot go wrong in my experience with a good 'Cote du Rhone Villages', but of course we all have different taste.
M&S have some nice Argie Malbecs for around a tenner, their Las Dalias '14 is very good for what it costs - you could buy 3 for your budget but if you went for six, three for yourself, that would get you their discount, which I think is 10% at the moment.
Have you tried any South African reds?
But having said that it y depends upon your colleagues tastes.
they also have a very good Chilean 'Finco' for the same price....
for that money you can get a classic.... Margaux, Pomerol, Pessac Leognan, Pauillac or a St Emilion grand cru. Is it to drink now?

The tumbrels are being wheeled out in the Republic. Madam Guillotine awaits you. :-(

Look on the bright side. If you are still suffering last night's headache Madame will help in a jiffy. :-) Hope it has now passed. xxx
Last night's headache has gone, ta, so the Scarlet Pimpernel has been notified!
Agree with Jourdain, excellent value you could get 10 bottles for £30
