I don't normally get seed catalogues, mullein.

I normally take the slugs down to the garden centre with me and let them choose for themselves what seeds/plants they want to destroy once I grow them/get them home.

Love it brachiopod!  :-)

Hi mullein, I've only had T & M too.  My problem is that I send for various ones & then forget until they arrive, or I forget to order them & wonder why they haven't arrived!!  The thing is I love to look at the catalogues but very rarely order so I'm not automatically sent the next one.

If I ever get to the shops today I might buy a gardening magazine. ('specially if there's a freebie!) I used to buy Gardeners World regularly but after about 3 yrs similar articles start to come around again.

Good plan to post in H&G  - chatterbank is fast becoming a no-go area for me I think, it's getting worse by the day.

robina..you can order seed catalogues on the internet..my favourite is suffolk herbs i think you allready know that..their catalogue is like a book and its lovely..i am going to turn my veg plot into a wildflower and herb sanctuary..less work..as mr m said it will be my last summer here yipeee..i have nearly worked myself to a standstill the last 12 weeks..so shall have to make it easier...
Question Author
brachiopod...can you take some of mine to the garden centre with you...i have some lettuces in my greenhouse i went in their yesterday and their was a fat slug wriggling accross them yuk..i have encouraged a lot of frogs so they have helped..at least my mullein hasnt been munched!!
Question Author
robina ..you are right have just looked in chatterbank...at the end of the day us older ones need to talk also ..so we will have to talk in the home and garden..and where ever..

Yes mullein - if you'd put this in chat at 6.51am it would have been 2 or more pages back by the time I came on here & I'd have missed it.

I keep meaning to get some cheap beer to make traps for the huge slugs (do they work?). I'd probably look out to see a legless fox throwing up in my plantpots!!

Hope you're not feeling too tired today btw!

Question Author
robina..i dont use slug traps..i dug a small pond and i have loads of frogs that are eating the slugs..if their is a lot of slug activity i do use pellets..just round the plant stem..but i have lots of marigolds and chives dotted around so it hasnt been to bad..they just attack vegetables...so its a waste of time growing them..yes if i posted on chatterbank i would have slipped back a few pages..lost in the wilderness..i think they think we are mute!!..
robina, beer traps work a treat, if you don't mind fishing out the dead slugs!  My Mr Fothergill's catalogue has yet to arrive mullein2.  I work for a gp and i've found the best source of free gardening mags is a surgery waiting room!

nfn the snag there is that most of the gardening mags in my gp's waiting room are encouraging people to dig for victory!

Question Author
you lot are brave ..nfn and robina..i dont touch any magazines in the doctors in case germs are lurking on them..i keep my hands firmly in my pockets..i allways try to get the first appointment of the day as well before they all arrive coughing and sneezing..and spreading their germs...also the doctors surgery feels airless so you dont know what is lurking!!
