Extension To Kitchen - Planning Permission Needed?
Hi folks, we are thinking about extending our kitchen into the back garden, to give us some more space. But this is only in our heads at the moment, no firm plans. Will we need to seek planning permission? The project would involve our downstairs loo, one wall of which is a party wall with our next door neighbour. Any advice greatly received .... cheers, Chox.

Unless you have a listed building, your extension will most likely come under "permitted development." No permission needed, but see the Planning Portal links above for limits on size and position etc.
You will need to serve a Party Wall notice to the neighbours though...

You will definitely need Building Regulations inspections. Go for a "Building Notice". A simple system that needs no technical drawings. It's all carried out with consultations between the Building Control Dept. and the builder.
