I've a weird enjoyment in going into the garden really early, especially after rain, and collecting all the snails and slugs that are quietly munching my flowers and shrubs. Is it wrong that I throw them all over next doors hedge?? I'm joking!!

I've heard that a beer trap would work as apparently slugs are attracted to beer.........but why should the little b****rs die happy !! We do chuck them over the fence at the bottom of the garden but if OG is right they'll only make their way back - even if it does take them a fortnight.
I'm a Hosta addict, so slugs and snails are my deadly enemy. However, to prevent them being munched wholesale I tend to grow them in pots and move them around my borders where a little filling in is needed. Last year I tried copper bands around the mouth of the pots and had huge success with it. You just need to try and keep all leaves out of contact with neighbouring plants / walls or those cunning little snails and slugs will climb aboard!
