New Kitchen Scales Needed

Hello, My old scales have expired and I must replace them. They were handy in that when not in use, the plastic bowl could be inverted to cover the weighing bit. I don't want any that need batteries -we use too many as it is. The bowl/container into which the ingredients are placed must be able to contain at least 500 g of flour (for bread making) at one go. I know that vintage style scales are available online but at such a high price! I need something that is practicable and affordable.
Thanks.

Thanks,
I saw those on my own search but .........? They don't fit my criteria.
Fair enough, I've no idea how much the cheapest one can weigh in one go. But there does seem to be a large selection to choose from.
The one on my link has a maximum capacity of 4kg and it looks like the bowl could be inverted...
I know you said you didn't want a battery operated set but seriously, they're really good and the battery lasts ages...mine is years old and I've only replaced the battery once.
It's a basic Salter set, cost about a tenner, very slim and takes up no room in the kitchen, you can use any bowl or container with it.
It's just a suggestion, but why not spend a tenner on an electronic set and see how you go on. If you don't like it (but I bet you will) then you can always replace it with a more traditional...and expensive...set.
Totally agree with Eth.
My kitchen scale battery doesn't last very long. Few months, handful of uses, and it's moaning it's low again.
I can't recall how long I've had my Salter scales but do know that I haven't needed to replace the battery since 2011.
I'm with Eth, too...the battery in ours is three or four years old and it's much more accurate than any old- fashioned spring type.
What sort do you have OG? Sounds like there's either a fault with it or you've got a rubbish set. I can't remember when I got mine it's that long ago and I've just replaced the battery, it gets used regularly.

I would agree with most of the others who have said that the battery in the latest electronic scales lasts for years.
I have several and besides being very economical to buy, they are accurate.
Quick & easy to use, compact and space saving. Can also use any container.
I go with Scorpiojo's suggestion. Simply scales, large 4kg bowl and reasonably priced work horse.
Well, I still use lbs. and ozs. (although , funnily enough, I became used to buying in grams when I lived in France). Nearly all cookery books give weights in Imperial measures and I use them. I use my late Mother-in-Law's scales and weights (got 3rd prize for my Victoria Sponge in a highly contested village show last year!). You can probably buy a proper scales and weights set on e-bay or in any second-hand shop. I do have a stand-by electronic lot which I use if I have to. This combination may suit. :)
Just checked. There is a kitchen scales with both Imperial and Metric weights measure on sale now for £8.99 - no batteries involved!

I'm also with Eth. I've had my scales for about 5 years and have never replaced the batteries. Mine are fixed to the wall and just flips down.
