Soft Close Toilet Seat

Our recently installed toilet seat makes a loud groaning sound when it goes down. Any ideas what causes this, and how to stop it? It was OK at first but it's now an embarrassment.

Perhaps you installed it up-side-down. It should go up out of the way when folk've finished using it.

Is there any way of adding a bit of lubrication?

My daughter has had a couple of these seats. They seem to work OK for a while then eventually bang down like any normal toilet seat that isn't closed by hand.

Give it a squirt of WD40.
