Hi guys, i've just wallpapered the side of a bunk bed with a wardrobe and drawers underneath it. As per the instructions, i still need to cut the bottom of the paper off (where it reaches the floor) and i also need to trim the area around the doors. Does anyone know the best tool and method to do this?
thanks

Press the paper firmly to the skirting board, use the point of the scissors to mark the paper, then pull the paper away from the wall and cut.
I've done quite a lot of wallpapering and nothing gives a cleaner cut than a sharp stanley knife pressed firmly against the skirting/corner etc
It sounds to me as if you have put up the paper and left the trimming to last, if this is so then you may have a problem. As Tonyv says you need these long scissors and as MargoTester says, mark and then pull the paper away to trim but if you leave it too long you cannot pull the paper away, without damaging it, to cut. If this is what's happened then the only way to trim it to use a very sharp knife.
I agree with Prudie. In addition I used this to hold the paper against Skirting / Ceiling as a guide for the knife. Worked really well

I just been ing having some lunch and it occurred to me belatedly that the paper must by now be dry! In which case as Prudie has said you will need a sharp Stanley knive.
Margo thanks for adding
Scissors always best wet or dry
You're welcome Tony. I used to be a dab hand at wallpapering even if I say so myself. Sadly those days are long gone! As my Mum used to say - old age does not come alone - I can't get down on me knees these days and if I did I probably would never get up again :-))
Go with emitrus. I'm a decorator and have been using one of these for years. Get an 18mm breakaway knife instead of a Stanley knife.
You don't live anywhere near Luton do you Melv? I could do with a good decorator
No Margo. I'm ooop north in Sheffield.
Oh shame :-))

@ vulcon - i thought the same as you, but that is what the instructions say, i need to wait till it's dry and then cut it, but i can't tell what tool they suggest using by the picture they've used. I think i am going to go for the knife and tool thing emeritus suggested. Thank you for all your help.
@margo, why don't you go on a website like rated people or check a trade, i've had some really good work done by people on there - just make sure they've got lots of good reviews as i have met a couple of idiots on there. Or failing that, give it a go yourself, if i can do it, anyone can
I use a sharp Stanley knife along with a wide paint scrapper pressed into the corner at ceiling level and skirting. The scraper is about 4" wide. Press the scraper into the corner and draw the knife along the new wallpaper.
