Washing Machine - Has Stopped Automatically Spinning Etc At The End Of Cycle.

I wee while back i washed a thin rug in the washing machine (just the type thats like a throw, not a thick carpetty type)
it fit in the machine fine, however when it got wet it weighed a tonne, it spinned so hard that the machine just stopped and didnt drain, and the rubber seal round the door seemed to move and is now a bit kind of twisted.
after about 20 mins, it started working again.

however it washes fine and spins fine ... but it wont do it automatically - it just washes, and then i have to go and turn the dial to the spin cycle.

i dont think its the distorted door seal itself thats the problem - it is only a bit and still seals fine etc - and as i say both cycles work fine individually.

any ideas why this has happened and what i can do about it?

thanks

Just a thought! If the rug shed a lot on its wash, maybe the bottom filter has been clogged. Have you taken it out and made sure it's clear?
Good call above^^catnap I was going to say check the pump filter for grit etc.
Yes I have had this happen, filter clogged . It stops the pump and with no pump the spin will stop as well.
Meant to say, filter blocked and / or pump clogged / blocked. You need to clean out both the filter and the pump.
Eddie I have my machine 4 years now and after spinning "deeply" (wait to "END" THEN - I have to move my dial too - one of the newly fashioned things we have to get used. Just get on with it and life will go smooth for you. LOL
Yes JJ but joko says his machine was working fine before he washed the rug.
Only after washing the rug has it stopped spinning automatically .
I think that what happens is, if the filter is a little clogged and water backs up in the "system" then the auto spin will not operate. Then as the water level in the drum drops slowly and you can then operate manual spin function.
ok - no I dont have to do that - I just spin to the end of a dampish end - then turn dial to a dryer end.

Is there is a sock or nylon caught in the filter etc - at the bottom of the machine etc. In my case it was pair of knickers. Have a look there. There is a little flipper at the bottom of the machine
Blimey jenny how did you get a pair of directoire knickers into the filter.(^_*)
I guess I was exaggerating - it was in my wilting days when I wore a thin petticoat and the petticoat ripped so it was a bit of ripping. but it was so.

However if they were trying to my knickers out now - they would need a hose to get the flag/knickers out LOL
if my wash load is out of balance it will not spin so it will not damage the machine
Ah for Jaysus sake get the plumber
Calling a plumber or washing machine engineer will cost at least £50 JJ , It is a few minute DIY job!

after reading through all of rest of the online manual and looking on their site etc.
it seems there are a couple of cycles that have a delicate spin, so i suppose they may appear to have not spun much, and one that doesnt spin at all, and theres an anticrease function that lets the washing sit and soak in the water for a bit - i guess this could be what it is.
ive not noticed it before, but then i probably just took the stuff out and put it in the dryer or something.

i will also check the filter etc too - though it claims to have a self cleaning filter and need no maintenance

thanks everyone
