Which Cushion Cover Fastener To Use?

I am looking for suggestions for the best fasteners to use on a cushion cover?
The fabric is quite loose knit and stretchy, there isn't much of an overlap and the opening is at one side of the square cushion as opposed to it being an envelope type cover.
I hope this makes sense!
I was thinking of using poppers and wondered if fewer large ones would be better than more small ones? Or Velcro, but my experience of using it is that it is quite stiff which wouldn’t be nice on a cushion. A zip probably makes most sense but I have never put in a zip before so am a bit daunted at even trying it.
What other options could I consider? I want the cushion to be quite full so which would work and look best?
Thanks.

Makes perfect sense, Shivvy.....if you've never put in a zip before it could be a little difficult on loose knit stretch fabric.

Could you sew some narrow lightweight binding on the opening side of the cushion? This would make putting in a zip much easier, or...if you use poppers would prevent too much looping/sagging of the fabric between the poppers.

Using poppers I'd do more small ones rather than large......some matching or complimentary buttons over the top of the poppers could look quite professional......x
You can buy poppers on a tape, might that work?
I've never used that Mamya.....but sounds like a very good idea.....x

Thanks gness. I think you are right that this type of fabric isn't the right one to try and do my first zip on! So I will rule the zip out.
Yes, I am worried that the poppers might make the fabric look pulled between them - like the buttons on a shirt on a fat persons tummy!
Although I've not used it, Shivvy I'd try Mamya's suggestion....you may need to use your zip foot to sew it in but that wouldn't be a problem and could look very neat...x

Oh that sounds interesting Mamyalynne. Do you think that would reduce the likelihood of the fabric being pulled between the poppers?
Have you used the tape before and is it easy to sew in?
A couple of safety pins. Not joking, I use them for everything including hemming curtains.
Life is too short.
Unless the material is of a very light colour and therefore will need throwing in the wash frequently, I'd be tempted to sew it up, particularly as you say it's a loose knit fabric. I doubt very much the stitching would show.

Like your style Jenny!
I haven't used the tape for a long while and certainly not on a loose knit.

Ah, so that rules it out then.
Looks like I'm back to the popper idea then.
Thanks!
