Dishwasher Problem

For some reason whenever I open the dishwasher now after it's done a cycle the dishwasher tablet is in the pull out handle of the top shelf, half dissolved. I'm not sure exactly where it's meant to flip - into the bottom of the machine I would have thought. But because it's landing in this handle bit the dishes aren't cleaning properly. Any ideas??

Use powder or liquid?

I've never found tablets satisfactory
Mine used to do that so I just chucked the tablet into the bottom of the dishwasher.
The little compartment in my door broke eventually and like, Ummm, I just used to chuck it in the bottom. That's where it's meant to end up.

Yes I use tablets always. Oh I didn't know you could just chuck them in the bottom
when I use washing machine - I use powder but don't put it in the drawer. just throw a cuppla scoops in the drum - washing comes out fine and I don't have a grubby drawer
I just drop my tablet in the cutlery basket rather than putting it in the door. I've had this happen to me too many times with umpteen dishwashers over the years. It doesn't seem to matter where the cutlery basket is located in the dishwasher.
