Believe I have posted this on here before, but why is it that some people after posting a question asking for advice/help, never bother to reply with a word of thanks to those bothering to help ?? Annoys me. Rant over.

This is my bete noir of AB. It is extremely rude and if a member continues to offer a simple "thanks" I do not answer any more of his/her questions. I consider that to be their loss and not mine. I have been told that i am arrogant and "up my own @rse" when complaining about their bad manners.

I agree, fbg. It doesn't cost anything to say, 'Thanks'
They just want to annoy you.
Has fbg40 gone ?
good point old-geezer, I'm only replying here as I am wondering where is your avatar on this post, I see it on latest posts but not in the thread
As I've written before, the amount of effort put into a response to my posts seems to be inversely proportional to the effort I've put into answering it.

If I simply copy & paste the original question in Google, get an answer within seconds and then post it here, I'll probably be awarded a Best Answer and offered profuse thanks.

If I give up a night's sleep to research a detailed answer to a complex question I never get any response at all!

(I was a bit peed off that I never received a Christmas card in return for the one I sent to an AB member whom I'd given a guided tour of Paris to!)
I wondered about that too. Was wondering whether I was the only one not seeing it.
No, your eyes do not deceive you - all that effort to be an OG and you're showing as a jellybaby
Seem to have been a few hiccups on the avatar front tonight. For a brief moment I became elated when I saw that Nye Bevan had morphed into jelly men.

OH dear, I usually say thank you for your reply but I nearly always forgot about the best answer :(
// I think that a

s rants go, that was pretty poor. Have another go and this time really mean it.// db

Oh come on DB 'fess up

what did you say about my advice?
anyone who is remotely sane would nevva ....

I found myself the other night advising lparlie how to evade or string out a s8 or s 21 eviction notice which in real life I throw around like confetti - so clearly I was an expert in what non-compliant tenants can do

and I did find myself wondering if she would take DB's advice and not go near or ignore some pretty good advice on how to poss off your landlord ( she was leaving anyway)

BC;s advice is always spendido
and I have followed his wills advice ( well he did make a living from it) and spread it around the family

as with mentoring at work ( erm when I did it)
the advantage ofbeing ignored is the mentee never complains " I did exactly what you suggested PP - and I have totally screwed my career! "
They can usually do that without ignoring advice from me

very fitting for a man who has had a long and distinguished career as a colorectal surgeon innit ?

Not to say thank you for any help is downright rude. It really gets my goat!
Totally agree with Buenchico. Answer a simple question and most of the time get an individual or group thank you. Something difficult and needing person to a lot of trouble, and may even be the only answer. Nothing Zilch, no acknowledgment, no thanks ,,, and you think, Why did I bother.
P.P

"very fitting for a man who has had a long and distinguished career as a colorectal surgeon innit ?"

There was a very famous colorectal surgeon who practiced in Bristol and his name was Angel Gabriel and he was known as the @rseangel Gabriel and he often when up to London to meetings and "look up a few friends."
Its so annoying there is a poster will ask questions give information and then never come back to update, so next time he posts you ask if he sorted the last thing out and you get an half *** response. it doesn't take long or much effort to write thanks very much everyone!!
Maybe some people have busy lives and they can't remember that they have asked a question
It amazes me with having read some good advice and helpful responses (usually from other posters) that some folk don't reply with a simple thank you.
