Coke To Clean Scale From Toilet Bowl

It just won't shift (in the bottom of the bowl) and I have heard that coke does the job. Do I have to scoop all the water out (!) before I put the coke in? Can I use cheap generic coke?
Or, does anyone have a tried and tested tip for another way?

Yes! Buy toilet descaler, NOT bleach! Get the thick kind, dump the whole bottle in the bowl and leave for as long as you can, overnight is good. Flush and repeat if needed.

if you burn a pan..a can of fruit filling for pies works...put in and leave 24 hours comes up sparkly new !! just thought I'd mention it..imagine what it does to your insides !!

I agree with woofgang. Scoop the water out, squirt plenty of descaler round, I use harpic, and leave as long as possible. Get your rubber gloves on and give it a good rub with a gentle scourer.

The old-fashioned Coke could reach the parts that Domestos couldn't.

Steradent is good for removing stains from mugs, teapots etc. but don't know about toilets. I always use harpic and leave overnight or just a few hours but you need to brush as well. It also smells nice.

toothpaste too furry..the white colgate sort..cleans up cups lovely...

Just for interest - I use a cheap well-diluted generic version of Milton to remove coffee/tea stains from cups.

... dangerous - produced copious quantities of chlorine gas - cleaned right round the bend :)

HG is the brand to look for. Brilliant de scalers and other things like degreaser of oven extractor fans. Won't use anything else.

^^ Bleach WILL NOT remove lime scale! it just makes it white by bleaching out any colour!

as i said it doesn't work, so will get me some toilet descaler if someone will give me a name to look for.
