Ok Ok Ok, this has been discussed before regards Diesel Cars, yes it's our choice & it was our choice to purchase one for a few reasons, No Damp Starting, Resale Price, MPG, Longer Service intervals, according to the Mirror this morning this Government and the Idiot Lord Mayor of London is trying to impose a £10 pollution Tax on Dervs coming into the city< is this a fair request? I think not! why? if that involves cars what about Buses /HGVs, the Boats on the Thames which are Dervs, do you not think the fault as I have said before lays with the petroleum Company's for not producing Cleaner fuel, yes we have a choice as some have said on here, but why should you have to get rid of your diesel car if there's nothing wrong with it.
it was our choice because we were mislead by the government and its advisers that diesel was a better fuel to use than petrol. misinformation on that then just like being mislead on brexit !
The question for the politicians and the law makers is: What is more important, accelerating Climate Change with more carbon dioxide from petrol vehicles or exacerbating respiratory and circulatory diseases with more carbon particulates and nitrogen dioxide from diesel engines.
The latest car diesel engines have to use "ad blue", an aqueous solution of urea, and diesel particulate filters. And still this is not enough. Is any level of exhaust emission acceptable ?
They scam people for driving on the roads drivers've already paid for, using congedtion as their excuse, why be surprised that the highway robbery got extended to other driver robbing schemes ? The car haters are in control everywhere and love to bully those with their own powered vehicles that gives them the freedom to get about as they wish. Probably makes them feel big.
Where were the particulate 'experts' when Mr Brown persuaded motorists to change from petrol to diesel? Could this be the next miss selling scandal?..lets hope so.
Diesel is for trucks, buses, tractors boats etc. Private cars though multiply the problem by a huge factor, they should not be diesel. This is a silly political "experiment", dispite all the gismos on a car they still pump out much more and more dangerous pollution than a petrol car. Forget the resale issue TWR, you wont be able to give them away once all the cities ban them.
TTT, I doubt that will happen in my lifetime, the cost to the Motor Ind / the public, I have said in the past, it's up to the Refiners to sort out the pollution that their fuel causes. But that's my view for what's it worth.
Well if you want to drive into central London TWR, change your car before the new charge comes in. I'm with Mr Khan on this. Something drastic has to be done to improve the air.
I think the eventual answer will be hydrogen fuel cell cars.
