Getting House Keys Cut

Has anyone used a 'My key machine' kiosk please and are they any good? Timsons seem quite expensive, I need one Yale and one mortice, they quoted £14, key machine say any three keys for £10, they are in Asda, the Range etc. Am I just being mean and picky tho' so thought I'd ask, but I do like a bargain :0)

have you got a hardware shop near you? My local store cuts keys & is considerably cheaper than Timpsons

No we don't, our two local hardware shops closed down last year:0( very useful they were too. The my key kiosk seems as if you use it yourself and they say it only takes two minutes to make a key which is why I am a little apprehensive about them. Thank you for replying, rosy

Hmmm......What guarantee do you have from the machine that the key will work? A couple of times I have had issues with cut keys from different shops, one on London and one locally. Both shops said the same thing to me which is try before you rely and both sorted the issue for free.

Never used one, rosy, and don't think I ever will, as you can't guarantee the key cut is a good one and the hassle you have to go through to get it changed, if you can.

Use a local key cutting shop..(Never had to return one, as didn't fit)...and occasionally Timpsons, who offer deals on multiple keys cut....All good there too.

I've never seen one of those machines. I used to go to a local ironmonger for key cutting, but he's shut now, probably owing to people like me who buy everything online :(
There is still a cobbler in my town who mends shoes and cuts keys.
I'd rather go to an actual person in this case.

Yes, I think you are all right, glad you were lucky tho' murraymints, I will have another search, Timpsons do have an offer of buy one get second half price but they both have to be the same key unfortunately. Thank you all for your advice, rosy
