What Can I Grow?

I've dug a border in my lawn which would butt right up against the neighbours fence. It's the only side I could dig cos there's a path on the other side. What can I plant there, right next to the fence which doesn't get any direct sunlight during the day? There is already a rose plant there (previous owner)

I have roses, but I believe they prefer more sunlight. You probably just need to web search for plants that like shade.
