Disposing Of Garden Liquids

i have been sorting my garage and have several unidentified plastic bottles which have contained plant food, weed killer, pond cleaner etc., unfortunately damp, plus hungry slugs and snails have made the contents a mystery, and so they are not useable, how can i dispose of them safely?

Ask your local authority. They might have suitable facilities for disposing of mystery items.

Take them to the tip.

In my local experience, Ummmm's got it right. Just go to the tip and ask the guys there which skip, bin or whatever such things should go in.
(Matters could, of course, be very different elsewhere.)

Just chuck them in your rubbish bin like we all used to do with everything - sometimes life's too short to care!

It's not exactly an insuperable mental challenge, even for someone described as a "tip operative", to grasp that wood goes into Skip 3 and metal goes into Skip 7, is it? Similarly, there will probably also be a Bin A specifically for garden chemicals.

I shall be taking the liquids to our local tip on Monday when, hopefully our son will be here to help with the heavy lifting. I will post what happens. Thanks for all the suggestions. I must say in fairness that the people at our local tip are excellent, helpful and polite and certainly know what goes where.

I know it's not rocket science but I also find the staff at my local tip really helpful (they have often helped me take heavy stuff out of the boot) and always know what goes where, especially odd stuff like this.
