Got The Keys Today
31 Answers
Got the keys to our new (rented) house today. It's so nice! Made me realise just how miserable we've been living here, it's not a home it's always felt so temporary. We've never had our stuff out, no pictures up, couldn't decorate, etc. The new place has a garden the kids can use (room for a pool and a trampoline). We're allowed to decorate and the landlords (who have become good friends) don't call it their house they refer to it as our home. A massive plus side is I can get my bloody dishwasher in the kitchen :)

That probably won't stop some jobsworth from pointing out that it's in a different school's catchment area and insisting that your kids move school. Then, of course, your insurance company will note that one letter has changed in your postcode and instantly double all of your premiums. At the same time, lenders will drop your credit rating to zero because your new address isn't on the electoral roll, etc, etc, etc!
Yeah, that's me: Always the optimist!

Congatulations anyway!!!

Thanks everyone :) I've even got my beloved kitchen table and chairs out for the first time in 7 years (I love my table, it's a proper family table) and I can I have my lovely lamp in the living room (yes, I'm well chuffed). I didn't realise I felt so miserable but things are on the up - I've even had all my hair chopped off (first time in 11 years!). Just want to get a job now that the kids are not so little.
The kids will stay at their schools - Chris was being all dark (it was v important to me that they didn't move schools and stayed in catchment for high school). Our approach to moving is v chaotic - we're currently chucking stuff in the car (it's a big car) but have a van on Friday for the big stuff. It'll be fine, I have my table :)
