Hammond didn't say it was banned in the UK. All we know for sure (very early days) is that it is banned in the U.S.

Ladybirder....my thread doesn't say for sure if its banned or not.

I, like everybody else, is now no longer sure one way or the other. It could be that Hammond is incorrect.

But as a Minister, I am sure he would have checked his facts first ( ! )

Bookbinder....then the Enquiry needs to progress as quickly as possible, so that it is clear if this stuff is dangerous or not. There are many other buildings in London, and the rest of the UK that may be in similar peril.

Mikey I clicked on the link showing Andrew Marr and Hammond on this morning's AM Show. And he does use the words "it is my understanding ..."
If I use those words it means I am not 100% sure but think it highly likely although I might be wrong;-)

Ladybirder....I was surprised when Hammond made that statement to Marr, as I haven't heard anything similar before. Every time I hear the cladding being mentioned, the opposite is said.
