Islay: Pretty sure May said they didn't meet the standards at the time, which lays the problem at the door of local authority/fire and rescue service inspections, checks and, potentially, council labour forces and/or contractors. Unlike Labour, it seems to me unwise in the extreme to even attempt to apportion blame so early in the investigations. To make political capital of the deaths and ensuing homelessness, without any proof whatsoever of wrongdoing by the government, is despicable.
