More Hindrance Than Help

Some appliances are effectively indispensable (eg fridges), some are very useful (eg washing machines) ... but a few are just a waste of white metal and space.
Tumble Driers - they gobble electrickery like you own a power station and basically just shrink stuff whilst generating industrial quantities of fluff
Dish Washers should be consigned to the skip - they do the easy things well enough (although even then you have to rinse everything first) but they leave you to do all the heavy lifting yourself - never come across one that would actually do the pots and pans to any satisfactory degree.

I am considering buying two of these: Amazon.co.uk User Recommendation
If only I knew if they would be used

Wouldn't be without a dishwasher, dave.
They do all my pots and pans very well (very often better than I can do them myself). Thinks that have burnt on food can usually benefit from a soak (just as they would if you were washing them by hand). No rinsing is needed. Most machines have a rinse programme on them anyway but I rarely use mine unless I put anything into the machine that is likely to become a bit smelly if left.

Oh poppycock!!! You're doing the hokey cokey with your knickers then looking at them on the radiators or airer for days......
I'm sticking mine in the tumbler then doing really interesting things.....
They don't shrink if you do it properly.......
I have nice, soft, fluffy towels.......you exfoliate with yours....
The birds appreciate the fluff gathered...
I save on electrickery by not using the cooker.....
And you could have your nose pecked off by a black bird!
Come over and cook for me tomorrow then use my dishwasher........it does the pots and pans beautifully....... I think...... :-)

I have recently been reintroduced to my dishwasher and I love it (but I wash everything on quick wash as it's still being washed better than if himself does it). I rarely use my tumble dryer as I am too tight - I will air underwear in it but I wouldn't put most of the school uniform in it for fear of it shrinking (and that's the only stuff that has to be dry).
Couldn't agree with tumble driers or dishwashers, I think they are great - with all the weather we get how else do we dry laundry without having the house like a sauna? The modern ones are quite economical.
Dishwashers do the job if you use decent tablets and the right programme.
Where I do agree is with that forlorn heap of small kitchen appliances that live down in the back of the corner cupboard - peelers, squeezers, beaters, mashers and mincers abandoned after one go and the discovery that it takes 40 minutes to disassemble, clean and reassemble - so you just use the one sharp knife you've always used...
