As a Birthday treat to myself, I've decided to get a new comfy chair. The one I have is a compact tub...and it's lost its sqooosh, and is not nice for telly watching. It replaced an old, worn, but comfy wingchair.
I've chosen 2 from ikea...
1)...my first choice, the Stocksund. Overstuffed, and sized generously. But maybe TOO generous:-( Has slipcovers...which had been one of my criteria )
Also a bit pricey...in fact as of yesterday it had increased by 10% and costs almost 2x my second choice. :-(

2)...my second choice, the Strandmon. A wingchair that is a bit mid-century retro. No slipcovers but found a supplier on eBay. Costs almost 1/2 the price of the Stocksund...is more compact. But I'm still not *sure*.

Both have very good reviews regarding comfort and durability...and I've read LOADS of reviews!
The other seating is an IKEA Ektorp 3 seater sofa...classic shabby chic, squishy, slip covered. Currently covered in white ( +many throws ), but I've just acquired a sort of medium dove grey cover.

Hey pasta ... for your back k, the second one .. Strandmon x
Stocksund, the other one reminds me of my Grandmother.
... and neck!
I like the Strandmon, very classic.
Oh I love that style Eccles, good support for the neck and back.
I prefer the Standmon. The other one doesn't seem as supportive.
Stocksund every time. I really dislike the style of the other chair. Always reminds me of old people's homes!
Have you been and sat on them? essential IMO.
I used to have a Chesterfield style suite, gave me so many aches around my neck. The other is very nice & stylish, but not great for support.
Sorry Pasta! I don't like either, but if I *had* to have one of them, it would be the Stocksund - the Strandmon is ugly (to my mind) & looks uncomfy. You couldn't even tuck your legs up & under if the mood so took you.

PS Well *I* couldn't do the legs thing... ;-)
I'm a slouched on the sofa or armchair, the other one is what I would describe as a 'sit up and beg' chair. Not disputing its supportive qualities, it's just not what I would be looking for in a chair.
Having said that pasta, I like wing chairs with flat wooden arms, I think that curved arm does date it a little x
The first one, your wrists have nowhere to rest, doesn't look long enough?
Pasta, I think you are going to have to bite the bullet and go to Ikea and test them out.
We all know photos are taken to show items off to their best, but a chair or suite or a bed needs to be tested imo.
True alba.
ps I like the Strandmon, but wouldn't the studs dig into your back?
Don't think so alba, they're sunken. Pasta, what are your thoughts?
Does the first o e fit through your door too, make sure of measurements.
1st one, just pour yourself into that chair after hard day.
The Stocksund looks good, but it looks a little low. I don't know whether you may have trouble getting to your feet again. Especially after a glass or three. (&_*)
The Standmon looks a bit Queen Anne's nickers. :))

I like this one. Recliner and somewhere to put my paper, specs, & remote control.

Oh no toga, that's not a " pasta " chair, .
