Monday. It was lovely on the canal yesterday, warm and sunny, lots of lovely visitors from all over the world. One young family who have lived all their lives about half a mile away from the canal and didn't know it was there! By the time we finished and handed over to the afternoon shift, we'd had 138 visitors! I don't know how much we took as the leader on the afternoon shift didn't want me to cash up.Very trusting. :o}

The joys of Stroud today, then to Wotton-under-Edge, to do some shopping in my favourite organic shop. Will call into the farm for a bag of spuds and some veg on the way back. That's today sorted!

Have a happy day everyone.

Morning Boaty, nothing much to report here, yet to open the blinds.
Just counting the minutes till 09:30 when I've to rouse wife and nurse-in-chief for an appointment.

Her turn for the bed for a while as I can't stay still for more than 30 seconds. I'll take the table. :)

Morning doug. My sympathy mate. Never a good situation. Who is the appointment for? you or herself?
Morning. My sleeping is out of sync from staying up to watch the boxing...

Morning ummmm xxx That'll larn ya! :o} It'll take a while to get back to normal...whatever that is!
Good morning, Boaty (& Douglas & Ummmm, of course).

Are you sure that the organic shop will be open on a Bank Holiday? (If it's the one I think it might be, there's always Tesco Express next door anyway!)
Her appointment then she's out all day with friends so I'll have the place to myself till the offspring land after work looking for food.
Plenty time for sleep later.

Morning chris. You obviously know 'ootton! :o} Yes, that's the one. It's a lovely wee shop. A good point though. I'll go anyway, I will be going to the farm anyway. That's the farm near Cotswold Edge Golf Club, do you know the one?
Question Author
Some peace and quiet then doug. Priceless mate!
I don't know your area at all really. I just know how to use Google ;-)

The last time I was in the Cotswolds was possibly about 30 years ago, when I took a school football team on tour there (and every match got cancelled because of heavy snow!)

arf arf arf I love it! :o}

It's a pretty wee town. Four bakeries on the main shopping street, they all do a good trade! There is also the oldest working cinema in the country. A couple of nice pubs and some lovely countryside. The New Inn at Waterly Bottom is a good one, no phone signal!

thirty years ago I was living in Cowplain, up the A3 from Portsmouth.
Good morning all.

Morning danny. All well mate?
>>> There is also the oldest working cinema in the country

Don't tell them that in Birmingham!

States one of the oldest. so it's a toss up really!
People could argue for ever about which is the country's oldest cinema. The one in Birmingham dates back to 1909 but some might say that doesn't really count as it was rebuilt in 1937.

It's akin to trying to find the country's smallest pub. Do you count the entire area or just the bit accessible to the public? Or should you just measure the frontage? Or perhaps use some other measure? There are quite a few pubs which have long-claimed to be Britain's smallest and there are now lots of micro-pubs being opened to confuse the issue even further!
Oh well, the cat which was on my knee has just jumped off, so I can try to grab a few hours' sleep before hopefully seeing something of a sunny bank holiday. (I did think about going to Notting Hill Carnival but it will probably be too late when I get up. At least I'll save some money!)
Question Author
My point exactly. I'm not sue, off the top of my head, but I think the Wotton one is older. I'll have a look while I'm over there, I think it's written somewhere.

:o} Sleep well my friend.

I was gazing through the window, wondering where all the birds have gone. The Sparrowhawk has just settled on the telegraph pole.
