Hi ABers out there, not sure which category to put this question under, so hope this will be appropriate.

We went to a lovely food festival yesterday and I used my polyamide/polyester crossbody bag. Standing at one of the displays, a friendly golden labrador decide to lick the bag and left some of his saliva on it. There is now a big stain where he licked it and I am a bit upset about this stain because I haven't had the bag very long. Any ideas about removing the stain, please? I've tried wiping it over, tried washing the affected bit in soapy water, both to no avail. At the moment, I've just dabbed the area of the stain with some liquid stain remover for biological stains, so don't know whether it will remove this stain.

Any other ideas?

Thanks, cheers, Chox.

are there washing instructions inside bag ?
Question Author
Unfortunately not... only a little label with the contents of the fabric. Polyamide/polyester, so it's waterproof and wipeable.
if all else fails i'd put it in the machine on a low quick wash.

apparently, a solution of ammonia, water and washing up liquid works, there is something in doggy slobber which causes the stain. But will check with the brand people before I put it in the wash. Thanks for the tip, much appreciated. Best wishes, Chox.
Is it a Kipling bag? If so they are fine on a gentle wash.

Yes, it is a Kipling bag .... do you recommend anything special for the detergent? Or just the one I use as normal?
I have a couple of Kipling bags and have bunged them in the machine with a tab of Ariel. No ill effects but I don't think either have sustained dog drool!
Don't forget to remove the monkey!
The are apes not monkeys.
Are Kipling bags cheap tat?:-)
They are neither cheap nor tat.

The apes are named after the staff who make them.

Beginning to wonder if I'm a little over invested in Kipling bags......
From website. Product details of Gabbie shoulder bag.

Two zipped front pockets
Two zipped side pocket
*Kipling monkey keyring*
Dimensions: 35.5cm x30cm x18.5c,
Materials: Fabric: 100% nylon. Lining: 100% polyester.

Ow much! Over £100-00 for a shopping bag.
My mistake, I was always lead to believe they were apes and they certainly look more like apes than monkeys!

Perhaps my tour of the factory in Belgium misdirected me due to language issues???
