Cleaning Up My Old Bike

Just retrieved my old bike from the back of the shed where it's been languishing for a couple of years. The paintwork and wheels will be good as new with a wipe down but there are some rust spots on the handle bars. Can anyone give me a good tip to get these clean and shiny again?

WD40 and a (very) gentle kitchen scourer (one of the non-stick ones) - don't scrub too hard, just work persistently at the rusty bits. Get it nice & clean and rust free & wipe dry with paper towel.

Then give a final wipe with a dry cloth lubricated with just a small spray of fresh WD40 - to stop the rust returning.

Combined Chrome polish and rust remover, Turtle Wax has a good one

Thank you Sunny Dave. Haven't tried it yet but have been wanting to clean my bike for ages. Will give it a go.

I used to use Brillo pads on chrome rust.

I don't know what happened to it but I did reply on Monday.
Anyway I thanked the two posters who had replied at the time, thank you again and to the others that have posted since.
I used WD40 and a non stick scourer as that's what I had to hand and it worked a treat.
