With the wind picking up around our area there's bound to be damage, on returning home this afternoon I noticed next doors shed door hanging off, there's a young lass there with 3 little kids her BF Is as much use as a chocolate teapot, he's a lazy sod, I was determined not to put this door right & I feel rotten by doing so, what would you have done?

Minded my own business
You'll wish you'd fixed it if the wind gets worse and it's banging all night:-(

Not my shed, why would I be concerned?
I'd have asked her if she wanted it fixing if she seems overwhelmed, although I'm reasonably sure she can fix it herself tbh, a shed door is hardly rocket science.
"it's banging all night:-( "

Lucky shed!
I would have offered assistance, making it clear it was for her and the kids sake, not the chocolate teapot
If I was able to fix it, I would have gone and offered to do so. It's nice to help people, as you know, TWR, because you do it all the time.

Offer to sort it out for her. You know you want to.

Done quite a lot to help this lass Kva, "T" maybe right in his answer.
TWR, I'm a she, not a he.
If you have done a lot to help this lass ... the BF will probably be saying to her

''Stuff the shed door the silly old fart next door will fix it soon'
Steady, Boo !

On reading the OP I pictured the woman and her three kids sitting sadly in the shed with the door hanging off.
"There's a young lass there with 3 little kids"

You shouldn't feel rotten for not fixing it for her. I wouldn't get involved. She can always ask you to help, and if you then say no you can feel a teeny bit bad.

Sorry Tilly, I'm sure I knew that xx
I'll forgive you, TWR. ;-)
Since she and her chocolate teapot are not incapable I'd have left them to it.

I'd like to think I'd be more willing to offer had that not been the case.

No point in feeling rotten. Life's too short to beat yourself up for not being a saint. And they may learn self sufficiency by your not jumping in, which would be a plus for them.

xx, To end, door sorted by who? any ones guess, but not me.
Err, that's a trick question TWR.

Any prizes?
Question Author
No prizes OZ, only I did not do it, how are things down under? was chatting to my Brother Ex this morning, she has health issues as do we all, her family live on Barbie.
If you want to fix it - do so!
If you don't want to fix it - don't!
What's the point in asking this question?

Just had to happen.
