House sale completes on Friday, I want to run a vacuum over the upstairs carpets, sweep downstairs wooden floors and have a quick dust around. OH says we have to do a deep clean and leave it immaculate. Who is right, me or the OH.

I would say: leave it as you would like to find it. I'd do more than 'a vacuum and a quick dust round', but less than a deep clean. And leave a 'welcome' note and a bottle of good wine!

You. Assuming you haven't got anything unspeakable sticking to walls or anything else gross, a normal clean would be ok I think.
As you're worrying about, you obviously are not the kind of person to leave a hideous mess. So yes, you are right.

There's nothing unspeakable. We had the kitchen deep cleaned professionally in December, including the ovens. All the upstairs carpets were cleaned last October and I had all windows done inside and out last week. I don't see what else I can do.

Forgot the gutters being cleaned out last week.
You're fine then. What does your OH want to do?
When we sold house and moved last March in uk , we did a spring clean prior to moving out.
When we left rented apartment in Switzerland in 2016 , a deep clean is expected and cost approx. £1,500. This is expected for all moves in Switzerland and as part of handover agent does a white glove test. You engage cleaning companies who warranty handover pass and rectify issues until handover is agreed.
The first thing that will happen is the house will be full of removal men walking in with outdoor shoes and plonking boxes and furniture everywhere.

A clean is fine, no need for anything deeper.
A lady I know who has plenty of dosh left the most beautiful house behind - newly decorated, new kitchen etc etc.

When new owners went in - within a week they had gutted the house out so I wouldn't worry too much Sapel.
I cleaned my last house before leaving. But on moving into the new house I was shocked at the uncleanliness. It took my new neighbour, my Mum and my Mum in law a whole weekend to get house clean.
no you dont have to do a deep clean

I think I will have to wait until tomorrow to discover my allotted tasks.
I have a feeling six wooden venetian blinds will feature heavily. I would rather paint the Forth rail bridge.
Apart from death and taxes, there are two other certainties in life:
Nobody ever saw a small rat.
Nobody ever moved into a clean house.
Just think about the house you are moving into. How would you like it to be?

Would you expect it to be pristine or would you be happy with a 'normal' level of cleanliness?

Most people give their new house a good going over when they move in weather it's dirty or not.
