Canadian Maple Cookies

Some friends brought us back a souvenir box of Maple Cookies from Canada, shaped like Maple leaves. We wish they would go back to Canada. Until we persuade them, where can we get a substitute?!!

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I've seen Maple Cookies, like the ones you describe, in independent delicatessens, so it's worth trying your local ones. (I can't find any online deli's selling them, though).
If you ever get into central London, I think that there's still a Canadian shop somewhere around Covent Garden. (If you can't find it, try drowning your sorrows in the Canadian pub - the Maple Leaf - I can recommend their meatloaf!).
