I joined the local 'Men in Sheds' group today.

They are going to teach me how to make a bird box...properly.

Take a fag packet with you, and a blunt pencil. Thereafter watch your box. (^_*)

I couldn't possibly take a blunt pencil. Mine are all needle sharp, Togo.

I shall be looking after my box, very carefully.

The two blokes I met were Bob and Bob. That's easy enough. :-)
//teach me how to make a bird box//
i have this vision of two sparrows squaring up to each other

Lol. Good to know Tills. Hope you are well. Will this "birdbox"( oh man the possibilities with that word) be big enough for an Emu?
Question Author
wooden bird box...
Question Author
Not many Emus in Bedfordshire, Togo. Was thinking more of Blue Tits.
Oy As well Tills..... no Bobbing up and down. :))
She's off now bird boxes and blue tits.

...or a Robin.

♫Bobbing Robin.♫

What else could I make that's really simple to do?
I have sufficient men in my shed currently thank you.. ;0)
Question Author
I'm not collecting them, I'm going to join them, Minty.
Tills when you get weaving in that shed you will be ready to make a working model of the space shuttle out of plywood and leaky wellingtons. Think big. How about a fusion reactor using a compost bin, or a Mars lander made from old bed springs and pillow cases?
Question Author
I know how to weave, Togo. I weaved a beautiful table runner once. Woodworking is another matter. I love wooden things.

Old wellington boots are not in my remit.

Yep, and pencil must be kept propped on top of your ear. And if pencil should require sharpening it must be done with an old ( at least 20 years ) blunt pen knife.
Surely it is a bevelled edge chisel AV? That is what I use.
A dolls house, lots of scope for learning new skills and something good to either furnish for your own pleasure, give to a child in the family or donate

My training involved a pen knife, Togo. My dads national service army pen knife ( absolute rubbish it was to ).
Ahh you see AV. Army training back then encompassed being able to make full use of a crap knife, and win a war, whilst slicing an apple into bite sized pieces. We missed so much essential training we post war sprogs. Hope that you are well and happy despite the lack of innovative guidance during your formative years. (^_*)
Ah I see, Togo. If you ( the army national service man ) can build a bivouac out of a few twigs using the crap army issue pen knife in the bleak mid winter on the top of Mt Snowdon then all will be well with national security ;-)
