Anyone know any tips to remove double sided sticky tape from a wooden floor?
I have 3 carpet runners in my hallway that have been held in place by tape. Have taken the runners up but cant remove the tape from my wooden floor.
Thanks.
Thanks for tips so far. Havnt got anything oily or any glue remover in at the moment but have got some white spirit in. Its coming off in tiny bits by scraping but itll take me forever like this and is leaving a sticky residue (which I suppose white spirit/turps would remove)
Thanks again.
Lol Douglas, ur not nagging at all (well, not too much ;-) )
Got my son and his mates in and out and don't want them treading turps through the place and into my carpets so will have to leave it until tomorrow now anyway.
jno, thanks for link, might have to keep that in mind.
Rowan, as I said earlier, I havnt got any WD40 in at the moment but if white spirit doesn't do the trick I might have to buy some...
Anyway, thanks for all suggestions, appreciate them :-)
We had exactly the same problem here yesterday only it was on metal rails. We tried all the suggestions mentioned but nothing touched it until we tried Hammerite Thinners. That got it off easily. Not sure how it would react with wood though.
Thanks for that SD. Double sided tape is great for so many things but a pain in the arris to remove.
Will get back to this thread tomorrow to let you know if any of the suggestions worked ;-)
I would go for Sticky Stuff Remover or Swan Lighter Fluid to break down the adhesive glue.
If it's really stubborn to remove you may also need to use a glass window scrapper but be careful with the Stanley blade.
