Fridge Freezer

Have just moved and have inherited a hotpoint iced diamond fridge freezer. I think its quite old but I have just noticed there is a lump of ice at back of fridge No instructions were left and online instructions don't seem to help. any ideas what I need to do, the thermostat number inside fridge is on no.4

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Do exactly what Tilly suggests and in addition move the cabinet out to where you can access the back sufficiently to look at the place where the drain opens out. You should find a bowl of sorts there, more or less on top of the compressor which warms it up and forces the condensate/water to evaporate. The bowl may well have sediment/mould/etc. in it that needs to be cleaned out. The tube from inside the fridge may also be blocked with similar gunge - ensure it is quite clean by if possible removing it and then refitting. In the event that there is no tube there to carry the water from the fridge to the bowl you need to ensure the water gets to the bowl rather than dripping in an undirected way - get a tube and fit it rather than leaving things disorganised. The above assumes your machine is designed and constructed in the way that is most common.
