2 weeks ago I got caught shoplifting, as I am only 16 the shopkeeper called my parents instead of the police.
my parents said they don't want to see me go to jail so are going to punish me severely, they said they were going to make my punishment as close to prison life as possible, they sentenced me to 3 weeks imprisonment, which is HALF the school holidays.
MY PRISON DAY,
I have to get up at 7am, then shower and get dressed i am not allowed to wear my own clothes i have to wear my school clothes, navy blue shirt and black skirt, i then return to my room and my bedroom door is locked, i have to eat all my meals in my room , i am NOT allowed tv, phone etc, i am allowed internet for 2 hours par day as a privilege for good behaviour, this privilege can be taken away at any time, each time i am set written work to do,
each day i have to write out 300 times STEALING IS ONE OF THE WORST THINGS YOU CAN DO
i also have to write a 6 page essay each day, today i have to write an essay on UNACCEPAPTABLE BEHAVOUIR AND PUNISHMENTS, i am confined to my room at ALL times i am only let out to use the bathroom, otherwise my bedroom door remains locked, lights out and bed 9pm.
i have served nearly 2 weeks of my punishment and i HATE it so much i have begged my parents to let me off the last week , but they refuse, i am SO SO MISREABLE i have lost my freedom and i want out,

DO YOU THINK I SHOULD BE LET OFF THE LAST WEEK OF PUNISHMENT ?

Do I think you should be punished..yes. In this way?....yes. Do I think it ill help you to grow up and stop stealing? oh yes. Do you realise that by stealing from shops you are stealing from all of us. Shops don't lose out they just put the prices up to cover their expected losses through theft. We are all paying for people who are thieves and that is not fair.

look on the bright side, you have the internet to amuse you ...

If you can't do the time don't do the crime.
Well hopefully this will teach you not to break the law.

Stop whinging and suck it up. You’ve only got a week to go but expect your parents to be more restrictive than usual after.
Brilliant idea from your parents, seriously it takes a lot of love to put that much effort into someone. You won't do it again will you. You are not being harmed, you still have it better than someone in prison . Don't be angry with them it seems unfair at the moment but it is done with your future in their hearts and minds
".....and treated like a common criminal." Don't quite know how to break this to you but you were caught shoplifting. You are a common criminal.
No...your punishment was set by your parents and it's necessary for them to stick to it. I rather wish I'd punished my own daughter in the same manner when she was caught the day she finished her GCSEs. But in her case the police were involved and she was banned entering the department store for 1 year.
Learn from the punishment and understand why you've been punished in this manner. You're 2/3 through...keep up the good behaviour...stop whinging.
Your parents have overreacted big time. You would not have gone to prison for shoplifting. Probably got a stern talking to off a Police Officer especially if its your first offence. One thing for sure you won't do it again though, but I couldn't treat a child of mine like that.
Assuming this post is not some sort of a wind up....
I love your parents, you are very lucky, they will make sure you grow up to be a fine citizen. Has this deterred you from crime? I'd probably let you off the last week, maybe your parents will too.
Sound too soft to me.
Speaking as an ex con I couldn't get a shower everyday or access to the internet.
And I definitely wasn't allowed to wear my black skirt!!
"Assuming this post is not some sort of a wind up" ...
It's ***.
You are lucky. All power to your parents, you should learn from this and no, you should not be let off.
^^^^P.S. You could use the time to improve your spelling.
No, you should complete the punishment.
You deserve it. I'd do exactly the same with mine.
No you should serve your time and consider yourself lucky.

Clearly a bogus story and a bogus question.
I think three weeks being confined to your room is way over the top and doubt anyone on here saying " well done parents" would actually in real life make their kids stay in their rooms for three weeks. But its more likely a wind up (hopefully) .
