Our big old reclining armchairs are fine, but SO heavy, and in our decrepitude are just too heavy to move (for cleaning etc).

Can you get big chunky reclining armchairs that aren’t so heavy, or, failing that, should we adopt some grandchildren for such tasks?

ps bainbri, how's your wife now, has she recovered?
I have some special discs that I bought when I bought a new three piece suite which means, even though they are heavy, I can move the chairs and settee easily to clean under and I am struggling physically at the moment. Perhaps you could contact the manufacturer to see if something like this is available for your chairs.
the problem is that the mechanism of a reclining chair is always going to be heavy because its metal.

Thanks for the ideas (and kind thoughts).

Our recliners sit on big circular rings, so discs won’t fit.

Mrs B is out of plaster, but a bit weak at the knees. I remember old people many decades ago trotting out the cliche “You’re all right as long as you’ve got your health.”

How we smiled, how we laughed...

We’re not laughing any more!

We don’t actually recline in our recliners, rather use them as an automated foot stool. Might need rethinking.
You only need to move them if the room is being redecorated. Do not move them to clean under them because who cares what fluff etc accumulates?!
