mortgages ?????

i am in my final year of university and want to move into my own house next year. i was wondering if anyone knew if i would be able to get a mortgage so soon after leaving uni. also does anyone know of any good websites for information about mortgages as i dont really know much about them. not sure whether i should rent for a while or get straight onto ladder??

I would always advise against renting, unless there is a predicted slump in the market coming.



Whether or not you can get a mortgage depends on your savings and income and outgoings, you could contact a mortgage advisor or your own bank for further information

It might be a good idea to wait a while even if you can get a mortgage (you'd need some serious savings though, I have a �18K deposit saved and a steady job and still can't get a mortgage!). The reason I'd advise you to rent for a while is you're probably going to be moving around alot. I certainly found myself constantly changing my mind about my career and where I wanted to live in the first few years of my career. Your choice of job may even determine where you live. Most of my friends have graduated within the last 8 years and most of them are not where they expected to be.
