Sometimes I feel like Viv - Spend Spend Spend and I don't have it. When I got my new shed last week I had 3 strimmers, 2 lawnmowers and now I have 4 radios and can't hear the bloody things.

Anyway I ordered a second hoover on Studio website today . I have just cancelled it as I do not need another gadget in my house.

Will I be on time - like will they accept the cancellation. Thanks.

As far as I can see from the Studio website, they don't accept cancellations prior to delivery. (Although, if you've just managed to do it, there would appear to be a way anyway!)

However with any 'distance selling' contract you always have the right to cancel your contract within 14 days after receipt of the delivery. You don't have to provide a reason and the vendor must provide you with a full refund. So, if the vacuum cleaner turns up, simply send it back, using the returns form on the back of the invoice that will come with it. (There are a few exceptions to the '14 day rule' but they're not relevant here).

thanks Chris - I haven't looked back onto the site but I may have to pay the return postage. I'll have a look.

Chris this what I get

They are only charging £5.99 for postage but it sure will be far more than that to return it. From experience - Well the last thing I returned to a catalogue cost me a fortune via the post office.

////The goods you order from us are sent to you on approval and if you are not satisfied with them you can return them to us at your own cost provided you do so within 14 working days of receipt. If you have already paid we will refund you or, if you wish, replace the items, we will refund the delivery charge paid by you to receive the goods, but only if you have returned all the goods. Some items are excluded from this - see below. Return of goods made by you outside this period may not be accepted by us and may be returned to you at your expense. If, in our sole discretion, we decide to accept a late return of goods from you, we reserve the right to make a charge of £4.95 to cover the cost of processing the late return.////
The rules (under the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013) are that the vendor must refund the cost of postage from them to you, as well as the cost of the goods. (The only exception is that if you chose, say, an 'express delivery' option, they'd only be required to refund the 'standard delivery' amount).

The law doesn't require the vendor to refund the cost of you getting good back to them unless they specifically state that they'll do so within their terms of business.

So you might end up having to pay to return the unwanted item but, if you've managed to find a way to cancel your contract on their website, it would seem daft for them to send it out when they know that they're going to get it back anyway.

thanks Chris - here's hoping - I need another gadget like a hole in the head.
I hope that you get it sorted out without incurring too much cost, Jennyjoan.

BTW, do you realise that it's 58 years since Viv Nicholson won the pools? I suspect that quite a few ABers will never have heard of her!
Never heard of her ;-)
Was it one hundred thousand that she won.
Question Author
something like that Tony but she was right in spending it cos she didn't have much luck after she won it and sure you can't take it with you.
Question Author
LOL Chris - that's how old I am.
According to Wikipedia, Tony, it was actually her husband who won the money. (£152,319). She just spent it!

I didn't know that it was her husband that actually won it, Chris.
The News Of The World loved her.

Ach Thanks Mamy - did see the Viv Nicholson title but didn't connect it to the Studio.

Anyway what I wanted to tell you that Studio kept contacting me every day until Thursday saying the parcel was coming even tho I contacted them 6 times to cancel.

I put a note in the window for the Hermes guy to take it away (in case I wasn't in) - so they took it away.

A few hours later an email from Studio - we are sorry to have annoyed you and so we are going to give you back the money (I hadn't paid) and also you may keep the goods to do what you want with it. So there ya go LOl

Is that the saying "hurry at haste - repent at leisure) is that right. Anyway glad to get rid of the goods. Just wanted to give you a wee update.
What a turn up, I have shopped with them for years but I must say though they are fair I have never had freebies.

Well done.
Question Author
Ah Mamy - didn't get the freebies LOL - as money never left my account and the goods were taken away.

They said they were going to do the above as a sign of goodwill. anyway all's well that ends well. thanks Mamy for finding that so quick.
Worded it badly, you were offered a freebie.

Glad to have helped.
