Have you pruned it, Hydrangea do not flower the next year after pruning, they only flower on the previous years new wood.
When are you trimming them up? Best leave them all winter and let the heads go dead/brown. Trim them come end of February, as new flowers come on new growth. Then give them a good feed of aluminium sulphate for intense colour and do no forget to give them plenty of water through spring and early summer. You can buy a sulphate treatment at any garden centre. They call it a colourant and it is in crystal form needing dissolving before application. Double what they advise. I do.
Mine get pruned every February Curvy, and we have oceans of blue and pink flowers right now. Maybe some of the rare hybrid varieties only flower on old growth, but all hydrangeas revert back to their original state after becoming established.
