The ban on using slug pellets that contain nasties has been overturned. Here is the link to a petition to try to reverse that decision - https://www.change.org/p/theresa-villiers-to-reinstate-the-ban-on-slug-pellets-that-was-overturned-following-appeals?signed=true&fbclid=IwAR3HLHG-4UoSo3G0r4xT9x22cbtfgR844GDfd_e62edHsT6xA9ySf3X-toU

Thank you :)

Done.
Sorry, but as long as slugs continue to eat my food, I'll continue to use slug pellets.

People who have commented on this (apart from me) are clearly not gardeners!
Are the pellets that don't contain "nasties" effective ?

I have hedgehogs who eat the slugs, I also have a cat who I don’t want eating slug pellets. Surely there is an alternative to chemical-laden slug pellets? I’m not much of a gardener but I am an animal lover.
Plenty, I would hope most, or even better all gardeners care about the wildlife in their gardens dd. No need to use poison at all.
Poppycock, Diddlydo........ I've been gardening for over fifty years.... my children are even better gardeners than I was and are both good enough to grow lovely fruit and veg without poisoning the soil and water supply...... and the creatures that wander into their gardens.

Of course there is an alternative, Sherr....plenty....unless one is too lazy to put in a little extra work.

I actually think slugs like hedgehog food, when it’s damp they all (the horrible, squishy, brown ones) converge on the feeding station (it’s kind of gross and a bit creepy) - I suppose people could put a dish of food out and then collect the slugs.
The so-called organic slug pellets without the nasties just don't work as well on a real slug invasion. Frankly, if next door's cat who keeps trying to c*** in my salad patch (and often succeeds) gets poisoned I don't really care.
Watch you don't get some on your lettuce leaves dd. I would hate something painful to happen to you;-))
Apparently slugs don't enjoy crawling over copper tape around plants.

There seems to be loads of alternative ways to sort out a slug problem if you’re inventive enough (and can be bothered to get off your ***).
There's a limit to the number of times I want to go outside and snip slugs in half - which I do to any I actually see. I can't keep 24 hour watch.

Only one snip DD?
Signed. Been gardening for over 60 years and never used them. Would not poison wildlife or environment.
My hedgehog eats slugs and wouldn't want him hurt.
