so setting about getting quotes from people who know people, when a tall distinguished fella with a clip board was at the end of my path, I went to ask him if he was ? No he said, I am Mark
me, Mark who? he ignored this and shouted for the two men with some ladders, then gave me a quick written quote of £950, they left and I phoned the mobile number on the paper he had gave me, I asked who they were and was told they were a company down on the coast????? I said I had not contacted them to which they put the phone down

I just got two flyers through my door from the same company. Check them out.The do all types of garage repairs including just a new roof. They are licenced to remove asbestos roofs as well. They are from oooop Norf

I'm confused. They gave you their number, you rang it and then told them you hadn't contacted them. I'm not surprised they put the phone down- they probably just thought you were a nuisance caller

surely that's the other way round? I am assuming they are chancers working in the are, btw my garage is in a block so who's to say they are wondering around looking at them, I wouldn't have seen them

I don't understand the mystery. Clearly one of the companies you contacted have asked a sub-contractor to come out and look at the job for them. Otherwise how would they know where to come?
