Rich, loamy soil with a clay or sand base will produce big leeks - as long as it is well-composted. Start the plants in the greenhouse and plant out, sowing them a quarter of an inch deep into the soil. As to Pumpkins, you can;t get much better than a website that devotes itself to pumpkins and the topic of groiwn big 'uns.. http://www.backyardgardener.com/secert.html
