Yesterday we had a burst pipe which resulted in hundreds of gallons on water cascading into our kitchen.
Today we have used the washing machine and after 2 washes it has tripled the fuses.
Is this because it got soaked in the downpour yesterday?
How long should we leave the machine and wall to dry out?

This is really complicated.
The house is owned by 2 sisters, 1 sister and her husband want to tear the house down the other sister doesn’t, the nice sister go the plumber out.
But is limited to what she can authorise the other sister is waiting on planning to come through which currently keeps getting rejected.
I don’t want to put too much pressure on the nice sister.
If the walls are damp they will dry out eventually
Not so simple then.Do you have access to a dehumidifier which would speed up the drying process?

I’ll get one tomorrow we had put an oil filled radiator in there to help
On the plus side RR. It might just be the very reason why your MIL cannot come for Christmas. The house will surely be too damp and cold for an old lady to come and visit. :-)
Chin up!
Tilly, I think Rockrose is hoping that it will be dried out before Christmas.
It will, Danny, but the MIL needn't know that. ;-)
lol
I was going to offer you some advice, but then I remembered that I recently tried to check for a gas leak by lighting a match.

I hope that it all dries out soon.

OMG Tilly I hadn’t thought of that what a bloody fantastic idea!
Depends on age of property how long it will take to dry out. Will be weeks or months. Is your tenancy agreement a short or long term assured tenancy agreement?

The house is 120 years old.
We have lived here 10 years and after the initial 3 year tenancy period we never signed another contract.
I return to my original point - has the landlord called in an electrician to decide if the electrics are safe? If not, this must be done for your own safety.
Question Author
No the landlord had not called anyone in.
