Toxic Oven?

My flat mate complains that when I use the oven, his room (the other side of the wall) gets a toxic smelly oil based mist which he can smell and which affects his breathing. I generally hardly cook, but sometimes I will bung a chicken breast ready meal or some roast veg on a tray at 220 for half an hour. When I open the oven, quite often hot steam comes out. I'm having it cleaned tomorrow which I'm hoping will help, but he is insisting that I don't use the oven to cook anything that contains oil! I can't guarantee that!! And now he is threatening to move out, which I also can't have, financially. Interested in your thoughts on this!

Throw the windows wide whilst you're having it cleaned and make sure he keeps his door shut too.
if he is threatening to move out over something that happens as rarely as you say, it sounds like he's looking for an excuse and you should let him go and get a nw flatmate
That's the problem with sharing a place.

I recall I used to share a house with others, and one kept cooking Chinese food using sesame oil. I used to get back from work and the place would reek of that revolting stench. I had to hold my breath, get to my room, and fling the windows wide open. :-(

There's no place like your own home.
