Help Needed With My Sewing Machine.
8 Answers
Hi,
I have a small Beldray sewing machine and although I’ve had it for ages I’ve only just got it going to make a costume.
Anyway I wound the bobbin but just before it finished the machine ground to a halt.
I rethreaded it and there are no stitches on the reverse side and the top thread just gathers up on the underside and it grinds to a halt when it can’t cope. It’s like the thread has got stuck somewhere.
Any ideas what could be cause in it and how to fix it? A bit ask I know since I don’t even know what’s wrong lol
Thanks

If so, the thread needs to go through it. I always check by doing one slow stitch (without fabric) to check that the top thread is picking up the one below. Try checking and going slowly, an inch at a time perhaps, to find out.
apart from agreeing with jourdain, I had a quick google - although definitive answer on the following, maybe the material is too thin

Hi cassa333 , I was always taught on my sewing machine mechanics course that the first thing you do if the stitching is out is 'to change the needle for a NEW one' A slightly bent ,off centre needle will not allow the 'under loop' to be picked up by the shuttle. Also check that you have the top tension set to the middle and tighten or loosen as required to get the correct stitch formation.to little tension on the top will cause 'bunching' underneath. Hope this helps.
