Jewellery Cleaner
10 Answers
Just wondering if anyone knows the name of a liquid for cleaning small jewellery items. Years ago I recall having a little container of liquid. There was a little insert or tray with a handle. You dropped in the items, rings for example a d lift them out and shine them. It was brilliant. Would love if someone could help.
Many thanks

You can clean most jewellery in coca cola, gin vodka and other household products without buying specialised cleaning materials. All precious metals come up clean and bright after immersion in any of the above. Just be very very careful if any of the jewellery has opals or other semi precious stones. These items do indeed need the right product. I think that this may be the product that you have in mind. Goddard's Jewellery Cleaner.

As an aside...unless you are an expert and can identify the type of opal you should only ever clean it with warm soapy water. Alcohol based cleaners or indeed spilled alcohol drinks can render some opals cloudy and pitted and in extreme case to crumble and break down. This applies particularly to the turquoise opals with the firelight property.
The one my missus uses is called "Towntalk".
I did a quick search on Ebay and found this one - complete with a tray for putting your items on:
