A 1300w power washer when switch on water jets out about half power then it will seem to ramp up into full force for a short while before dropping to half force again. I have checked the flow through the pipes it is clear, and with no lance connected the water flows but when powered up no force. any ideas where to look, the oscillating bits seem ok. Could the motor be at fault,it seems to run ok

Without knowing the make and model, we can't really offer much help.
My pressure washer does exactly that when the input flow is insufficient (I sometimes run it from a water butt). Is there good flow from the input hose?

bhg good strong flow from mains

When the flow slows is the motor still running? There will be a flow-switch on the inlet side which will only switch on the pump when there is sufficient flow. On mine if the flow is insufficient I can hear the motor cutting in and out.

bhg the motor runs at all time and mains water is strong at all times,as i said going on the sound, the motor seems to ramp up but it may be the jet of water ramping up and not the motor, unsure because it only happens for a few seconds.
It sounds like there might be a problem with the lance. Do you have any other tools for it that you can try? Can you adjust the jet on the lance as you can on my Karcher lance? If so it's something else to try. Other than that I'm out of ideas.

OK thx but jet is as slow when lance is not fitted to outlet, but thank you anyways
